Mighty Might

I was looking at a fellow sawyer's Mobile Dimension mill in North Florida this week that was very similar to that MM. We didn't have time to crank it up. Looks like that is where the idea for the "swing mill" came from???

I think the key to running these mills is to forget everything you know about a bandsaw and be open to a completely new way of sawing. Otherwise, the amount of shaving that they produce and the lack of recovery will keep you from making the right cut. Placing a log takes a big piece of equipment and is not as precise as with a bandsaw with hydraulics. So every aspect of it is different.

Hydraulics does spoil you, but we are worth it.

Soon I should have the opportunity to setup one of these MM circle mills I hope to install a hydraulic table. I have been collecting a bunch of parts over the years and should have just about all I need. I recently was given all the working for a scissor lift (two electric pumps, valves, res, control switches). I imagine I will need a simple way to tie the table to the mill base, perhaps a concrete slab or wood deck.

MM does make one of these but they cost as much as the mill.
