Log lathe.

Hey TreeBones, I was looking at your site and I have two questions. You say that you can cut 24". I thought a LT40 could cut 28". You also mention octagon posts, do you have one of those log lathes?

The opening on the throat of the saw is 28" and I do cut some wide stuff sometimes but don't advertise this. For the octagon posts I start with a square post and then clamp it into a jig that holds it for the rest of the cuts. No lathe. I would like to have the lap sider but cant validate the cost without the work to pay for it.

I have seen wood misers log lathe, I always wondered how they work do you make individual pass then turn the log or do you let the log spin slowly and cut slowly?

Both ways. It has a motor that turns the log, and it has locking positions for making triangles and octagons. One good job could justify either the lap sider or the lathe.

I would say, Very Welcome.

Tell us a little about yourself, and your woodworking interest.

I am curious about the link??

donnaj867,
Everyone is welcome here as long as they are not a spammer and contribute to the forum in a positive manner.
I am guessing you really don't have much to do with the sawmill or woodworking industry so maybe you can tell us a little more about yourself. I know of many people who never picked up a piece of wood or used a tool until one day it just hit them and they turned into a craftsman overnight. You never know.
