Consumer Based Sustainable Forestry Management
The most effective action in promoting sustainable
forestry management is in the hands of the consumer.
However, sustainable management practices incur
additional costs on all levels of production of timber
products and will most always be passed down to the end
user.
In the past consumers shop for the lowest price without
thinking about the long term consequences of there
choices. Today’s building and construction market has
brought a new focus on green building and this is where
the decisions of consumers will shape the future of eco
friendly forest management practices. Choosing green
reaffirms a true commitment towards eco friendly
management practices on a monetary level by directing
financial support to those on the front line, our Tree
Farmers, Loggers, Foresters and Sawyers.
Making the Most of our Natural Resources
Another aspect of higher cost is attributed to lower yields
due to low-impact harvesting and higher costs resulting
from stricter standards. Lower timber yields in the short
term under sustainable forest management guidelines can
be offset by greater overall volume in the long run because
these resources are replenished.
Small and portable sawmills have an advantage to
this rule of thumb that green products will have a
higher cost.
Under current forest management practices timber is not
effectively replenished in a reasonable amount of time
due to damage to the forest and poor utilization of the
“non target” spices or what is considered “unmarketable”
timber that is left unused. Portable sawmill operators have
found a nitch within this changing industry with their unique
ability to process smaller quantities of timber that would
be otherwise overlooked by larger fast passed high
production mills. Portable mills have the ability to leave a
lighter foot print within the forest and reach into urban
communities to provide salvage and recycling, creating a
valuable tool that can no longer be overlooked.

Logs in the Burn Pile
"Their so happy for me to take the logs that
they let me bring back any slabs or parts of
logs that I can't use!"
Now thats the way to save the trees!
"Pappa1stuff" found the most cost effective
way to salvage logs. When the dump can cut
there expense by sending out a truckload of
logs that would otherwise take time to burn it's
a win win situation.
Every board made from salvage logs like
these will take a bite out of the demand for
clear cut timber products and at the same time
slow down green house gases by preserving
the carbon that would otherwise be released
into the atmosphere.

Service and affordable, cost effective website development and hosting for the small
Sawmill operator.
The goal of this site is generally the same as Saw Bucks. That is to encourage the
development of skills for individuals and businesses and help to grow and expand the
small sawmill industry as a whole. You are invited to use the tools we offer to expand your
advertising and marketing abilities.
Who Needs a Website?
Everyone who runs a business. It's as simple as that.
Having a website conveys that you are a serious professional business person. Reaching
out to bring in customers is at the top of the priority list for any entrepreneur. At the end of
last year, about 153 million people were online in the United States and about 10 million
are expected to adopt the Net this year (source: eMarketer). In today's business world
having a website is a must in order for customers to find you and to set yourself apart from
the pack.
Get the Word Out
The more people that know about you and your company the greater the chances you
have for attracting new customers. Making your information available 24/7 on a yearly
basis is expected to be normal in this age of lightning fast communication. Without it you
may be passed over in favor of a competitor who was able to deliver information and
supply the needs of customers.
Having a website gives you the opportunity to sell your products and services around the
clock. To create customer loyalty and patronage, you need to make a client feel good
about you and your services. The first step of any sale is educating the client to be familiar
with your business, your services and what you are selling. In this day and age more and
more people are looking on the Internet to get the information they need to make educated
buying decisions.
A website can do all the above and save you time and money.
